This wine is pale and straw-colored with scents of apple, lime, and pineapple. It has a zesty citrus flavor with a hint of refreshing peach. It's a dry wine. Bodegas La Val, a pioneer in Rias Baixas since 1985, is known for making high-quality Albariño in a traditional style. They're based in Condado do Tea, away from the coast, near the Portuguese border. In 2003, they built a modern winery in Arantei overlooking the Miño river. They have about 30-year-old vines grown using the Pergola system, typical in the region, which helps protect the grapes from humidity. They hand-harvest all their fruit and own over 90 hectares of vineyards throughout Rìas Baixas, making them a dependable source for reasonably-priced, quality Albariño wines. |
